Guide to Online Human Resource Degree Programs

Bachelor’s Programs

The term “human resources” is most often used to describe the personnel that make up an organization’s workforce, but can also refer to the department within the organization – occurring both in the public and private sector – that develops and manages the policies and regulations employees must abide by in order for the operation to operate efficiently.

What is this degree/program of study about?

While a variety of bachelor’s degrees in human resources are available, among the most common is a bachelor of science in business with a concentration in human resource management – a degree that combines the skills needed to handle employee inflow and outflow within an organization, while also offering the skills to properly handle issues of personnel conflict.

What does it take to earn this degree, and what will it result in for graduates?

Students with an associate’s degree may complete a human resources bachelor’s program in as little as two years, while those with no prior college experience may finish in as few as four years. Coursework once admitted will include typical business curriculum as accounting, finance and information technology, as well as direct human resources related coursework as organizational behavior and management. Typical starting salaries for those with human resources bachelor’s degrees may top $45,000 annually (BLS.gov).
